SPENCER TEMPLE

Howdy!

I am Spencer Temple. I grew up in Spring, Texas, and after high school I made my way to College Station. From there, I graduated from the Agricultural Economics department at A&M in December of 2015.

In my second semester at A&M, I met Kenny and we shared the desire to be entrepreneurs and an interest in aquaponics. Shortly before graduating, we starting interning at Aquatic Greens Farm. That is how we met Sharon, became part of the venture, and started Earth Galley Farms.

Why I do it:

I have worked in multiple parts of the food industry and I realized the need for local produce suppliers. It is ridiculous how much food we source from out of state (and country) and how long it takes before it reaches the final consumer. It was when I realized this, that I decided I wanted to grow food.

I believe that the food we grow is undoubtedly fresher, but also healther and safer that what is found at the big grocery stores. We are concious of our practices and make sure that nothing toxic or dangerous is applied to the foods we grow and source.

Good health is the basis for a happy life. I feel like we are contributing to the health of our area and I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else!
